About

This minor alteration to a 1988 Schwinn Prelude was performed one day during April of 2025. The goal was to adapt the frame to fit 650B wheels with 40mm knobby tires and cantilever brakes. To that end, the chain stays were dimpled for tire clearance and cantilever brake bosses were fitted for the brakes. Bronze was used as the filler for all fittings. The owner clear-coated the bare-metal altered areas as part of the overall aesthetic.

This was a simple and fun project. It is always very satisfying to see a decent frame like this one given an extended life and appreciated for its fine ride qualities. All the photos were supplied by the owner. I'm sure you'll agree, it looks great! Thanks for asking me to work on this project, Adam!
